National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) is part of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, it is located on Pune University Campus. NCRA has set up the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), the world’s largest telescope operating at meter wavelengths.The institute offers integrated Phd. programs in the field of Radio Astronomy and Astrophysics. Areas of research at NCRA include studies of observational cosmology, quasars, radio galaxies, nearby galaxies, interstellar medium, pulsars, stars, solar system as well as techniques of synthesis imaging and image processing. Students will receive Physics and Astronomy courses during the first year as a part of the Graduate School requirements. Satisfactory completion of the Graduate School is required before registration for a Ph.D. degree at Pune University.

Selection on the basis of a written test (TIFR Written Test or JEST (Joint Entrance Screening Test)) followed by interviews.
Selection is done on the basis of a written test and interview.
