Eligibility

The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi with Physics, Chemistry  and Maths. OR General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

Admission Procedure

The eligible candidates are required to appear for a written examination that is designed to test their knowledge, skill and aptitude for the programme opted. The short-listed candidates in the written test are invited for Situation Test (only for Design programme), Psychometric Test, Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview as the case maybe, to complete the process of selection.

 Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy School of Art, or J.J.School of Art is one of the oldest art schools in India founded in 1857 in Mumbai by Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy. It was first instituted to take up drawing classes and the classes were held in Elphinstone Institution. The Governement of India took over the school in 1866 and started 3 different courses viz.(i) Decorative Painting (ii) Modelling and (iii) Ornamental Wrought Iron Work. It was in 1878 that the school moved into its own building where it is currently situated. The building also known as Deans Bunglow is classified as Heritage II site by the Government of Maharashtra. The school is famous for its alumnii MF Hussain, Dadasaheb Phalke and Laxman Pai to just name a few.

Eligibility 

The candidate needs to have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (State Board of Higher Secondary Education)/ an Examination of another University or Board recognised as equivalent thereto, with not less than 50 per cent marks in aggregate (45 per cent marks in the case of backward class candidate from Maharashtra State only). 

The candidate needs to have passed Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination of Directorate of Art, Maharashtra State (This does not apply to foreign candidates, who instead need to appear for Entrance test for first year). The candidate should pass an Entrance Aptitude Test conducted by the College.

1. There would be a common entrance test for the six degree courses mentioned above. The structure of the entrance test will remain as follows: XIIth Standard aggregate total 50 per cent of the actual percentage Intermediate Drawing Grade - ‘A’ Grade 10 marks ‘B’ Grade 5 marks ‘C’ Grade - Nil. Entrance Test - out of 40.

2. The result of the entrance test will be declared and put only on the notice board of this institute.

3. Candidates appearing for the entrance test should declare their preference on the application form by putting tick mark in the box shown against the degree course. Without this preference the application will be treated as invalid. Candidates at their option may put tick mark against as many courses they wish. Admissions, however, will be considered on purely merit basis.

4. Prescribed application form duly filled in must be submitted to the office of the Dean, within seven days from the date of declaration of HSC result of this State. 

5. The result of the entrance test will be declared separately for each degree course and according to the merit secured by the candidates at the entrance test.

6. This admission will be purely provisional and it will be confirmed by University of Mumbai in due course. This provisional admission should be taken by the candidate within the specific period declared on the notice board to pay the fees and submit the required certificate in original with attested photocopies. After this specific period no candidate can claim for the specific degree course.

Eligibility Certificate 

1. A student from another Board/State will be required to produce a Certificate of Eligibility from the Registrar, University of Mumbai for the purpose of admission to the BFA/MFA degree course. Candidates are advised to obtain Certificate of Eligibility. Information regarding equivalent of examination and particulars and form of application of the certificate of Eligibility may be obtained from: The Registrar, University of Mumbai.

MFA Painting 

1. Candidate for being eligible for admission to the Master of Fine Arts (Painting) degree course must have passed the examination of this University or an examination of another university recognised by Mumbai University as equivalent thereto.

2. The admission to the course will be made purely on the merits of the candidate at the qualifying examination and on the performance of the candidate in an interview to be held by the Dean. Every candidate for the MFA Degree shall have to register as a post graduate student of the university. The duration of the course for the Degree of Master of Fine Arts (Painting) by papers shall be two academic years.

3. A student from another Board/State will b required to produce a certificate of Eligibility from the Registrar of Mumbai University for the purpose of admission to the MFA Degree Course. Candidates are advised to obtain the certificate of eligibility.

4. A student who has studied in this institute in the previous year but fails to take admission on or before commencement of the first term of every academic year will lose his/her claim for the seat and vacancies will be finalised by giving admission on the basis of the application received in time.

For Diploma Courses

1. The candidates seeking admission to the diploma course must have passed: SSC Examination held at the end of Xth standard conducted by the Maharshtra State Board of Secondary Education or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with English as one of the subjects. Candidates seeking admission for A.T.D. (new course) must have passed HSC Examination of any branch and intermediate Drawing Graduate Examination. Diploma/Degree in Drawing and Painting or Sculpture and Modelling or applied Art, students will be admitted for Diploma in Art Education Course.

2. Applications for the Diploma/Degree in Drawing courses along with the copies of relevant certificates referred to in the form of application for admission should reach the Dean, Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai 400 001 as stated in clause above.

Admission Procedure

Admissions to undergraduate courses in NSIT and Delhi College of Engineering is mainly through the Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) of the University of Delhi and through the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) conducted by Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The CEE is for candidates passing from schools/institutes located within the National Capital Territory of Delhi. They are eligible for 85% of the total seats. Students from schools located within the National Capital Region like those in Noida, Gurgaon are not eligible for the CEE exam.

The  Institute of Archaeology is the educations / training wing of the Archaeological Survey of India.  The institute of archaeology conducts a two year postgraduate diploma in courses related to archeaology. Qualifications for admission

Master’s Degree in Ancient or Medieval Indian History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Indian Classical languages such as Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic or Persian, Geology with knowledge of Pleistocene age, Minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

Selection Process

The mode of selection to this course is direct through advertisement. The admission notice is issued in the Employment News in the first / second week of June and the last date for receipt of application is third / fourth week of July. The scrutiny of applications and preparation of merit list is done immediately and eligible candidates are called as per the merit for written test followed by viva in the second / third week of August each year. The applicants belonging to SC/ST category are given return second class rail / bus fare by the shortest route from the place of their residence / duty to Delhi . The applicants working in Central / State Governments and Universities are required to route their applications through prescribed channels. On the basis of written and oral examination final selection of 15 candidates is made.
